Founded by Sri Aurobindo and Mirra Alfassa (The Mother) in 1926, this spiritual community in the heart of White Town draws seekers from around the world — the inner courtyard with its flowering frangipani tree and the quiet rooms are deeply calming. The Ashram's philosophy of integral yoga has made Pondicherry one of India's great spiritual destinations.

The laid-back beach 7km north of White Town with a genuinely funky vibe — surf schools, beachside shacks serving chilled Kingfisher (technically outside Pondi's dry zone), and a sunset atmosphere that feels closer to Bali than South India. Ideal contrast to the town's colonial character.

A magnificent French Gothic church with 23 magnificent stained glass panels depicting the life of Christ — the finest example of French ecclesiastical architecture in India. The soaring nave and the quality of the European stained glass make this one of Pondicherry's most underrated gems.
