India's most pristine tropical archipelago. White sand beaches, bioluminescent plankton, world-class diving and the most turquoise water in the country. How to visit the Andamans.
The Andaman Islands are India's best-kept secret and most pristine tropical destination. 572 islands in the Bay of Bengal, most uninhabited, with some of the clearest water in Asia. The diving rivals Thailand's Koh Tao, the beaches rival Maldives at a fraction of the price, and the jungle interior hides wildlife found nowhere else on earth.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you need a permit to visit the Andaman Islands?
Indian nationals do not need a special permit for most Andaman Islands including Port Blair, Havelock (Swaraj), Neil, and Long Island. A Restricted Area Permit (RAP) is required for North Andaman and Baratang Islands — this is free and issued on arrival at Port Blair airport. Foreign nationals have more restrictions.
What is the best time to visit Andaman Islands?
November to April is the best time — calm seas, clear water for snorkelling and diving, and sunny skies. December to March is peak season (book ferries and hotels well in advance). May and October are shoulder months. Monsoon (May–October) brings rough seas, cancelled ferries, and most dive schools close — avoid for beach holidays.
How do I get between Andaman islands?
Government ferries are the cheapest option (₹200–400) but can be infrequent and slow (2–3 hours Port Blair to Havelock). Private speedboats (Makruzz, Nautika) are faster (1–1.5 hours, ₹800–1,200) and more reliable. Book in advance during peak season as seats sell out days ahead.
Is Radhanagar Beach really one of Asia's best?
Yes. Time magazine named it "Asia's Best Beach" and it genuinely lives up to it — powder-white sand stretching 2 km, turquoise water with gentle waves, and a forest backdrop. It's well-maintained and less commercialised than Goa. Visit early morning or late afternoon to avoid the midday crowds and for the best light.
